Wants friendships or relationships but finds it difficult to start, maintain or navigate them.
Who we help
When the challenge is around the task, not only the task itself
Gold Coast Social Works supports adolescents aged 13 and over and adults whose disability-related support needs involve social interaction, everyday communication, self-management, choice, relationships or community participation.
Recognisable situations
A referral may be worth exploring when someone...
Diagnosis alone does not establish or exclude suitability. The important question is what matters to the person and what practical social, relational or everyday navigation skill could make a meaningful difference.
Can communicate verbally but finds it hard to express needs, boundaries, disagreement or requests for help.
Relies on a parent or support worker whenever a routine changes or a problem occurs.
Wants more say in appointments, work, study, community activities or NDIS decisions.
Needs practical support with conflict, consent, online safety or recognising unhealthy relationships.
Has existing services but limited opportunities to practise and apply social or self-advocacy skills in real life.
Participation and choice
Independence does not mean doing everything alone
Progress may mean acting independently, using a prompt, asking a trusted person for help, accessing an accommodation or having a reliable support network. The right outcome is decided with the participant.
Enquiries for children under 13 can be considered individually where appropriate to Faye's professional scope and available service capacity.
Service fit and boundaries
The practice is not positioned as the primary provider for immediate crisis, acute safety concerns or highly complex behaviour presentations. A referral may be declined, deferred or accepted alongside other services when that is safer or more appropriate.
Procedures for parent or guardian consent and the young person's participation in decisions will be finalised before services commence with minors.
Unsure about fit?
A brief enquiry is enough to begin
Do not send a full NDIS plan, clinical records or detailed incident history through the website.
